The ACRL-LA Post-LUC Workshop on LOCKSS/CLOCKSS is canceled due to lack of interest. Paid registrants will be contacted about refunds. The LOCKSS/CLOCKSS speaker from Stanford University will be incorporated into the LLA Pre-Conference Workshop on Open Access Issues hosted by ACRL-LA in March 2011.
The ACRL-LA business meeting has been rescheduled to Friday, 22 Oct. 2010 at 1:30pm in Taylor Hall (CEBA).
This will give LUC participants time to have lunch and time to return to the business meeting.
Immediately following the business meeting, ACRL-LA will host a casual discussion of some of the pressing issues facing academic librarians in Louisiana. These are included below:
- Constant budget cuts (e.g., no travel funds for academic conferences)
- Job security
- Proposed closure of SLIS
- Shrinking serials budgets
- Deprofessionalization (movement towards non-tenure track positions)
- Outsourcing of academic library services
All ACRL-LA members and non-members who are attending LUC are welcome to attend this discussion. Ideas from this discussion will help inform the 2011-12 vision of ACRL-LA and will help the chapter better plan for future endeavors.
